1. Find arithmetic mean for the following data by definition.

1. x=2,4,6,8,10,12
2. y=3,4,-1,7,-8,-5,0
3. z=0,4,8,12,16,20,24,28
4. u=3.1,4.2,5.3,6.4,7.5,8.6,9.7,10.8
5. v=5,5,5,5,5,5,5,5

Solution

1. Arithmetic Mean =∑x/n = (2+4+6+8+10+12)/6 =42/6 =7
2. Arithmetic Mean =∑y/n =(3+4-1+7-8-5+0)/7= 0/7 = 0
3. Arithmetic Mean =∑z/n = (0+4+8+12+16+20+24+28)/8 = 112/8 =14
4. Arithmetic Mean =∑u/n = (3.1+4.2+5.3+6.4+7.5+8.6+9.7+10.8)/8 = 55.6/8 = 6.95
5. Arithmetic Mean =∑v/n = (5+5+5+5+5+5+5+5)/8 =40/8 = 5
